Bad weather in winter Prague: going to aquapark? And what about kids?
What to do on free weekend in Prague when your plan for skiing in close mountains had been broken by the bad weather. On the last weekend we try to explore a relatively new aquapark in Cestlice, near Pruhonice, on east suburb of the Prague. The impression was in the end positive, it looks as the biggest swimming areal around, with wide offer of various toboggans, man made rivers and other attractions which my daughter loves. I appreciated mostly quite warm water, at least definitely warmer than in all pools in Czech Republic I have remembered, and some kind of exotic nature style and relaxed non arrogant atmosphere. And more: there is just now some promotional action that children have free of charge entrance, which is said to be continuing till March 2009. But I have there noticed one strange and significant recent phenomenon, that children even quite small (younger then 10 years) move and run around there apparently without direct supervision of adults.
And more, people completely ignore all safety limitations there. E.g. on many toboggans there are sings according to them many attractions are prohibited for children younger 12 years, and but they is full of by really small children just running around and sliding down. Than it is problematic to keep my 10 years old daughter to respect these rules when she asks me why she cannot slide there down when all even much smaller children do this.
It may be in relation to that our Czech society does not consider hazardous behavior as important (e.g. car driving: the generally accepted norm is to brake the traffic rules). And Prague streets are full of small children, and my friends from Britain are curious because in UK there is a law according to child younger 12 years can to be without adult supervision (it may be the reason of au pair phenomenon there). I agree with this UK law, but here I am considered as crazy and my daughter is the last one from her schoolmates who can not go every where in the city alone.
So what do you thin?k Am I and British crazy?
